Nikolaos, epi tou koitonos, exaktor en krites of the Hippodrome of Anatolikon, 11th century. Seal (Lead, 29 mm, 11.21 g, 12 h). Circular invocational legend, obliterated except for [NIKOΛ]AⲰ. In the fields, NI-K/O/[ΛA]O, Nimbate facing bust of Saint Nicholas, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Rev. .../ ЄΠI T૪ KOI/T, EΞAKTⲰP / KPIT, ЄΠ[I] T, / IΠΠOΔ,M[૪] / TⲰN ANA/TOΛ in seven lines. Unpublished in the standard references. Some deposits and cracks, otherwise, good very fine.

The reading of the personal name, of which only the letters AⲰ remain, as Nikolaos is affirmed by the choice of Saint Nicholas on the obverse. While the first line of the reverse inscription is also not legible, one would expect a court dignity like protospatharios here. Nikolaos was a provincial judge, serving in the court of the Anatolikon theme
